FAQs about the University's Web Presence
0. I forgot my URL, username and password for my faculty.fordham.edu site:

The username for each faculty site on the http://faculty.fordham.edu site is the Lotus Notes E-mail short name (username) and the password for ftp is the first two letters of the full time faculty member's first name (Capitalize first letter, lower case second letter) followed by his/her 8 digit Fordham ID number.  The ftp address for uploading is faculty.fordham.edu.  The URL will be http://faculty.fordham.edu/username where "username" is your Lotus Notes E-mail short name (everything before the "@fordham.edu").

1. What is the URL for Fordham's CMS (content management system - formerly WAVES)?

Our CMS's URL is: http://www.fordham.edu/waves

2. I forgot my username and password for my CMS or FTP site:

Send an Email using your Fordham Email account with the following information: a) URL of your site; b) your department/organization; c) your official liason with our office; d) your department/organization's chair or head; e) your site's format (CMS or FTP).
3. Why is my site not immediately visible at it's public URL after being uploaded or generated?

The University's site is distributed world-wide by Akaimai, a distributor that generates our site to many servers around the world to improve speed and accessiblity. Therefore it may take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes before your site is refreshed on the server you happen to contact. To check on what will be distributed check this URL for waves updates: http://stage.web.fordham.edu and for FTP updates: http://origin.web.fordham.edu
4. How do I get a new web page on the University's site?

Send an Email using your Fordham Email account with the following information: a) URL of your site; b) your department/organization; c) your unit's liason with our office; d) your department/organization's chair or head; e) your site's format (CMS or FTP); f) person who will be responsible for updating.
5. What is required of web pages on the University's site?

The University's web policy committee has established that all top pages of the University's departments and organiztions must include the top and bottom frames as they appear in the template available here. In addition all sites must appoint a liaison with the Office Of Online Academic Services. For more details, see the University's Web Policy.
6. I can't see the "Edit" button in Waves. Is there something wrong with my account?

When the "Edit" button no longer appears for you within Waves, 99% of the time the reason is simple - your firewall is blocking it. In the lower right-hand corner of your computer screen (next to the Windows clock) look for a small blue and green globe icon or a yellow disk icon. Right-click on the icon and choose "disable." This will disable your firewall and allow Waves to display the "Edit" button.* Within Waves, re-click on your page so that it refreshes the view. If the "Edit" button still does not show, check to make sure your web browser's pop-up blocker is turned OFF, as it too can block the "Edit" button. If you are still having issues, feel ree to contact us at x4706 and we will do our best to troubleshoot your issue.

* Please note that you can always turn your firewall back on when you are finished in Waves. Simply right-click on the icon again and choose "enable."
7. Whom do we inform when we have appointed a webmaster/liaison for our site?

Please inform our office, the Office Of Online Academic Services at oas@fordham.edu, giving a) liaison's name; b) unit or department; c) web page's URL; d) contact telephone number and Email address; e) owner of the website (department chair or unit head). Alternately you may fill out the online form.
8. What is the URL for the submission of the online webmaster-liaison form?

The Online Webmaster/liaison form is at: http://www.fordham.edu/webmasterform/
9. Does the University provide help in designing a department or organization's web site?
