The Faculty Center Network is an on-line resource produced and maintained by MBS Textbook Exchange, Inc., which allows faculty to review college-level textbooks. The Network maintains a database of over 125,000 textbooks with complete bibliographic information. Inside the Faculty Center Network, users can search and browse author information and author biographies, cover images, book summaries, tables of contents, sample chapters and prefaces, and links to book supplements available to students. Two key features of the Faculty Center are the subject ranking and book usage data. MBS has taken its demand data from over 3,000 wholesale accounts and devised a way to show how often textbooks are adopted; and rank textbooks by subject category. "Cybereditions" takes out-of-print non-fiction and scholarly books and makes them available in new editions as e-books, instantly downloadable onto any home or office computer, and as paperbacks produced by print-on-demand technology. Cybereditions enables authors to revive and update their out-of-print books, making them available to readers through the use of Internet technology. In addition to supplying a revised and updated text to the reader, Cybereditions offers a substantial royalty to the author. Cybereditions also provides an opportunity for new editions of out-of-print books to be created, perhaps by the addition of new introductions or supplementary chapters.
